2- How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

The link between our main product and ancillary texts is that they all share the same image, the idea and image hasn't changed, the link is that idea of being tough, or hard which is very relevant to a couple artists from the genre have done similar things presenting the same attitude on their ancillary texts and their main product. Ours is rebellious in the attitude being put across, this could be seen as a problem but to those who's a fan of the genre it might attract them to buy the album, there is a mixture of low and high key lighting, there is also the fact the artist stands out on the cover. It is a fairly dark image so it could further create tension for potential issues going on for the artist in himself, gang of 3 pushes it even further towards the idea of being in an unsafe environment and the youth being involved and then even gang culture being brought back into the picture could set some people on edge.

Our idea's are no cohesive because they cause a conflict and not a very positive image is created when looking at our ancillary text especially, you get the sense its very rebellious, it goes against the normality so therefore it could still attract attention. The video is more cohesive than the ancillary texts but not by much, the immediate reaction from looking at the ancillary texts is a mean tone the red light brings up the connotations of danger or evil so it puts that twist on it even though that isn't the intention.

Cohesion is important for marketing as you're trying to persuade your target audience to buy your product, so it all has to unite for it to be appealing to your target audience which would then lead to sales and the revenue. The image that the band want to create or solo artist could be presented through their products, this means that however they are presented they will be viewed in that light. If you're trying to create a controversial image as a band which is becoming more frequent then if that image has been created and has still attracted your target audience then it is a success.

Our products are not particularly cohesive due to the expressions of the artists face, and for our genre it would be difficult to present an album is a positive light without looking menacing as that is what is expected of the album cover of our genre. It would be very hard to present a cohesive piece of work for our genre as it really doesn't have a positive view take on things in society, usually distances its self away from politics and focuses on people or a group of people in a specific area. That is why it would be difficult to create a cohesive piece of work in the genre we have used.
